Up to 20 percent of students may be enrolled in the independent study program. Students may choose independent study because of learning preference, migration, illness, family needs, work requirements, or other circumstances that affect regular in-person attendance.
Structure and support
Independent study is not learning alone. Students work from a written agreement, maintain regular contact with qualified educators, complete assigned work, and demonstrate satisfactory educational progress. The school works with each family to determine whether this option is educationally appropriate.
